4Equine™ was created from a shared belief that horses thrive when their environments support natural behaviours. Recognising a gap in sensory-based enrichment for horses, our founders brought together two worlds:
equine expertise and human sensory innovation.
The result is the EquiPad™—a product designed not only to engage horses physically and mentally but to enhance welfare through meaningful, research-informed sensory stimulation.

Where Innovation Meets Insight
The EquiPad™ was inspired when co-founder Melissa recognised the potential for tactile sensory tools—widely used in mental health and neurodiversity support—to benefit horses as well. Working together with sensory product innovator Andy, the pair adapted proven principles into a tool designed specifically for equine behaviour, welfare, and stable environments.

MEET THE FOUNDERS
Andy Western — Co-Founder
A passionate advocate for mental health, Andy specialises in creating tactile sensory products designed to support individuals with dementia, autism, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. His sensory tools are trusted by the NHS, UK police forces, and care organisations nationwide.
Through his company AJW Solutions (UK) Ltd, founded in 2008, Andy leads one of the South West’s leading precision engineering and fabrication manufacturers. His expertise in product development, materials, and construction ensures that every EquiPad™ is durable, safe, and built to withstand daily stable use.
Combining Andy’s sensory innovation with Melissa’s equine insight, 4Equine™ brings a new, evidence-based approach to enrichment.
